If I am overdue, when does SafeCheckIn begin to take action?

SafeCheckIn is notified immediately by our system when you are overdue. We monitor your account till you are overdue by your designated time (2/4 or six hours) then we begin our response process, which begins by getting in contact with you by cell phone. We will make every attempt to contact you before we notify your designated responders. We will attempt to contact you by cell phone and/or texting.  We will try once, wait ten minutes, try again and then try one more time at thrity minutes overdue.  Then we will begin to notify your emergency contacts. Once we have informed your emergency contacts of your status, we will discuss and decide with them the next steps to take.  Our primary goal is your safe return and often your emergency contacts will take over from us the responsibility once informed.  We really do not want to get emergency services alerted until we have discussed that with your contacts. You do have the option however of having us contact the authorities right away.
